About Fieldkit

Free, no-signup developer utilities that run in your browser — built for the small jobs that interrupt a coding day.

Fieldkit is a small, growing set of free developer utilities — formatters, converters, and generators — for tasks that come up constantly and deserve a tool that does not get in the way. Open a page, paste or type, run the action, copy the result. There is no account wall and no upload step between you and the instrument. The domain is use-field-kit.com; the same static site also appears on Cloudflare Pages under the project’s *.pages.dev hostname when a preview is published.

Who maintains Fieldkit

Fieldkit is maintained by Alexander Braz. Bug reports, corrections to the guides, and questions about privacy or advertising go to him through the email address on the Contact page. Guides list the date they were last updated, and so do the tool pages.

Who Fieldkit is for

Fieldkit is aimed at developers, QA engineers, support staff, technical writers, and anyone who occasionally needs a clean JSON document, a readable cron schedule, a quick regex check, or a local encode/decode without installing another desktop app. Students and hobbyists are welcome too. If you only need a one-off conversion and prefer not to create an account somewhere else, these pages are for you.

Typical moments: a webhook body arrived as one dense line and you need to read it; a crontab line looks wrong and you want plain English; a UUID list is needed for a fixture; a HEX color from design must become RGB for CSS. Fieldkit is optimized for those interruptions — not for multi-hour editing sessions.

Privacy model: client-side only

Every instrument’s logic runs as JavaScript in your browser tab. Text you paste into a tool is processed on your device. Fieldkit does not operate a backend that receives your payload for formatting, encoding, or generation. There is no Fieldkit account, no “save to cloud,” and no server-side history of the strings you type. Closing the tab drops what was on the page.

That model has limits you should understand. Display advertising on the site may still load third-party scripts (Google AdSense and related partners) in the usual way. Those scripts are separate from the tool logic and may use cookies or similar technologies as described in the Privacy Policy. Offline use works for pages and scripts already cached by your browser, but first visits still need the network to download the static assets and any ad library. We do not claim that third-party ad networks never see that you visited the site — only that your pasted tool input is not uploaded to Fieldkit servers for processing.

How tools are chosen

Each tool earns a page when it is (1) a common developer interruption, (2) solvable entirely in the browser without a privileged API, and (3) clear enough to explain in a short guide. Prefer one primary action per page: format JSON, build cron, test regex, flatten JSON to CSV, encode Base64 or URLs, convert timestamps, mint UUID v4 values, or convert colors between HEX, RGB, and HSL.

We avoid sprawling “Swiss army” pages that mix five unrelated jobs behind tabs. When a topic needs deeper teaching — for example how to pretty-print JSON safely, or how cron fields interact — we publish a dedicated guide under /guides and link it from the matching tool. New tools appear when they fit the same bar; requests that need accounts, team sync, or server execution are out of scope.

What Fieldkit is not

It is not a full IDE, a hosted API, a collaboration suite, or a place to store your data. It does not replace your editor, your CI pipeline, or a library in production code. There are no accounts, no saved projects, and no server-side processing of the text you paste. Fieldkit will not sort your entire monorepo, host a private vault, or guarantee cryptographic advice beyond what a browser API already does for UUID generation or encoding.

If you need multi-file workflows, team sharing, persistent history, or compliance-grade data residency for the content you paste, use tools built for that. Fieldkit stays focused on quick, local conversions you can abandon the moment you copy the result.

Advertising disclosure

The site is free to use and supported by display advertising through Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-7627561201008761). There is no paywall, no freemium tier that locks Format or Convert behind a subscription, and no tool whose core action is gated by watching an ad. Ads help cover hosting and maintenance so the instruments can stay available without signup.

Ad units are placed as ordinary display slots on pages; we do not enable Auto ads as a blanket overlay that injects unexpected units into the instrument UI. The presence of ads does not change the client-side processing model described above. For cookie choices and opt-out links, see the Privacy Policy. Design principles

  • No signup. Every tool is usable the moment the page loads.
  • Runs in your browser. Nothing you paste is uploaded to a Fieldkit server for processing.
  • One page, one job. Each tool does exactly one thing well.
  • Honest limits. Explainers and FAQs say what the tool will not do.

Bugs, feature ideas that fit the model, and questions about privacy or advertising go to the Contact page (email listed there). There is no ticket portal. For short answers about how the site works, start with the FAQ.
